I reimagined the dust jacket for Yu Miri’s award-winning novel Tokyo Ueno Station, using physical materials to convey the book’s themes, characters, and environments.
I painted bursts with royal blue India ink across three sheets of vellum, then scanned the layered artwork to create the jacket imagery. A photographed yellow ribbon represents the train line running through Ueno Station, extending the concept into a physical element of the design.
The jacket was developed using Photoshop and Illustrator before being physically produced.
Tokyo Ueno Station belongs to Yu Miri and Penguin Random House.
