“Tokyo Ueno Station” is an award-winning book written by Yu Miri, which I reimagined the dust jacket for in this project.
This jacket focused on physical methods to convey the book’s themes, characters, and environments. Using royal blue India ink, I painted bursts on three sheets of vellum paper, which were then scanned in a stack. Yellow ribbon was photographed and represents the train line running through Ueno Station. The design was made using Photoshop, Illustrator, and physically printed.
All aspects of the book and author image belong to Yu Miri and Penguin Random House.
